UFC Agrees Chinese Media Distribution Partnership With Migu

hinese Mobile subsidiary, Migu, have announced a multi-year content deal with the UFC, in the process becoming the exclusive distributor for all live events for the sport.

The deal includes an annual schedule of at least 12 pay-per-views (PPV) and 30 fight nights, along with Migu distributing president of the UFC, Dana White’s, Contender Series exclusively in China.

“There has never been more talent, more fans, and more energy and momentum for UFC in China than right now,” White said.

“This partnership with Migu is going to take UFC to the next level.

“I couldn’t be more excited to work with Migu and do amazing things to grow this sport and deliver incredible content to the best fans in all of sports,” he said.

The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but the New York Post reported in 2019 the UFC were looking to double the amount it gets for media rights in China to USD$100 million ahead of 2021.

According to the UFC, its fanbase in China has grown to more than 173.8 million, with over 10 million followers on their domestic social media platforms.

Migu will offer live events through the UFC Fan Club annual subscription, whilst also providing a selection of historical events from the archives.

The deal is further evidence of China’s growing footprint into sport now and into the future.
