Tiger Woods “Lucky To Be Alive” After Car Crash
olf superstar Tiger Woods has been rushed to hospital in Los Angeles after a car crash, with initial reports suggesting he has possibly broken both of his legs.
Los Angeles sheriff, Alex Villanueva, said Woods is “lucky to be alive” and was taken to hospital via ambulance and is currently in surgery for “multiple leg injuries”.
Woods was found conscious and alert by emergency crew and was lifted out of the car window as the door was unable to open due to the crash and damage caused.
Woods’ agent, Mark Steinberg, made a statement shortly after the incident: “Tiger Woods was involved in a single-car accident this morning in California where he suffered multiple leg injuries.”
“He is currently in surgery and we thank you for your privacy and support,” Steinberg said.
Woods family, agent, sponsors, and the entire sporting world is awaiting news of the extent of injuries and if Woods will be able to return to the golf course in the future, as he is currently recovering from a fifth major back surgery.
Pro golfer, and close friend of Woods, Justin Thomas, said after hearing the news of the accident: “I’m sick to my stomach.”
“It hurts to see one of your closest friends get in an accident.
“Man, I just hope he’s alright.
“I just worry for his kids, you know.
“I’m sure they’re struggling,” Thomas said.
PGA Tour commissioner, Jay Monahan, said in a statement: “We have been made aware of Tiger Woods’ car accident today.”
“We are awaiting further information when he comes out of surgery.
“On behalf of the PGA Tour and our players, Tiger is in our prayers and will have our full support as he recovers,” Monahan said.
Woods was in Los Angeles for a two-day content shoot with Golf Digest and GOLFTV after hosting the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational on the weekend and was reportedly on his way to an 8am call time for an Oprah-made production with NFL star, Drew Brees.
The accident was reported at 7am.
