Odgers Berndtson Hosts Exclusive Brisbane Breakfast For Executives
Odgers Berndtson, a global search and recruitment agency operating across 63 offices in 29 countries around the world, hosted an exclusive breakfast in Brisbane this week with some of Australia’s biggest leaders from various sectors.
The Odgers breakfast brought together a range of senior executive and non-executive talent from a multitude of sectors to look at the impact sporting & major events have on Queensland’s economy and overall wellbeing.
As the only global search firm with a dedicated sports resource, Odgers helped guide conversation around State and Government spending on sports infrastructure, social and community impact from hosting major events and how leaders from diverse industries can support and invest in these events.
Sarah Kelly, Tourism and Events Queensland, and Ben Parsons, founder of Ministry of Sport, were the guest speakers on the day, dissecting the Queensland Governments major events budget of around $80 million per year.
“Major events should also focus on ‘Return on Purpose’ not just ‘Return on Investment’, as these events have a major social and community impact,” Kelly said.
Parsons added: “We need to be more creative and take more risks when it comes to promoting and supporting these events because you can’t research originality.”
Odgers Berndtson’s Head of Sport, Media & Entertainment Practice – Australia & New Zealand, Rebecca Reed, said the breakfast highlights the company’s cross-functional capabilities in the Queensland market and ability to bring leaders from various sectors together.
” I specialise in the appointment of CEOs, senior executives and non-executive directors across sport, media and entertainment,” she said.
“Today’s breakfast was not only to facilitate discussion on the impact of major events in Queensland, but to bring together leaders from different industries for networking opportunities.
