English Premier League club, Manchester United, have announced a long-term shirt sponsorship with TeamViewer.
The technology company will replace Chevrolet as the main shirt sponsor from the 2021/22 season.
The five-year deal will be worth roughly AUD$84 million a year, according to The Telegraph.
Despite being a reduction from their AUD$115 million a year deal with Chevrolet, Manchester United will still have the most lucrative shirt sponsorship in the Premier League.
The club also believes it is the largest sports team deal struck since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
TeamViewer is a German-based global technology company, focused on remote access and control software.
They claim its connectivity platform boasts 600,000 subscribers and is installed on over 2.5 billion devices worldwide.
Manchester United’s managing director, Richard Arnold, said he is looking forward to their partnership.
“We are tremendously proud to be establishing this partnership with one of the most exciting and dynamic global software companies,” Arnold said.
“We are looking forward to working with TeamViewer to bring to life our vision for a partnership built on smarter ways of connecting people and businesses,” he said.
United will work with their new sponsor to create new augmented reality experiences for fans, along with remote stadium access opportunities at Old Trafford.
TeamViewer chief executive, Oliver Steil, said the deal will help them grow internationally.
“We are very excited about this partnership, as it will significantly expand our brand positioning and it will help us to market our comprehensive solutions portfolio to all customer segments globally,” Steil said.
Manchester United are also currently searching for a new sponsor for their training kit, with their eight-year deal with Aon coming to an end.
