Under Armour and its Australian Distributor, Walkinshaw Sports, has signed an exclusive long-term agreement with Golf Australia, marking the first major deal since the formation of the sports unified governance structure.
The new three-year deal will allow Walkinshaw sports to connect directly with Australian golfers through Golf Australia’s online handicap system, whilst also providing Under Armour performance golf apparel, footwear and accessories for the staff and stakeholders One Golf – the new unified governance structure for the sport with five of the seven states and territories committed.
Currently more than 37,000 golfers each day are checking their handicap at www.golf.org.au, the Golf Australia homepage.
Golf Australia commercial general manager, Kent Boorman, welcomed the partnership which he says will drive benefits to Walkinshaw Sports throughout the year.
“Without a doubt, Under Armour is one of the youngest and more disruptive apparel brands in sport, not just golf, and it’s fantastic to have an association with the company, through Walkinshaw Sports, in our partnership portfolio,” Boorman said.
“One of our key priorities is to attract more young people to the game and we believe the association with a global brand such as Under Armour, which has great appeal to a younger audience across a range of sports, is key to achieving this.”
