Australia and New Zealand company Elastoplast has signed with Rugby United New York (RUNY) to become the official Medical Supply partner of the club.
This deal further indicates the work RUNY has been doing to develop international partnerships following the signing of Body Science International last week, as Elastoplast, which was founded by German personal-care company Beiersdorf AG but operates out of Australia and New Zealand.
Elastoplast general manager of sports and professionals, Stanko Zonich, said Elastoplast is excited to partner with RUNY in the newly formed Major League Rugby competition.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Rugby United New York with our global sports brand and products.
“Elastoplast supports elite teams across the world, and we look forward to supporting Rugby United’s journey to success in this exciting new U.S. competition,” Mr Zonich said.
RUNY general manager, James English, said this partnership will help the club manage and take care of their players.
“A partner like Elastoplast adds a lot of value to our organisation,” he said.
“They have been in the professional sports space for quite some time, often working with some of the most recognisable organisations around the world.
“Our athletes are our number one asset, and Elastoplast helps to ensure we take care of them,” Mr English said.
This announcement comes after RUNY’s successful start to their first full season in the Major League Rugby competition, winning eight of their first ten games of the 2019 season.
In addition to sponsorship announcements with international organisations, RUNY has also announced the signing of former French national rugby captain, Mathieu Bastareaud, on a one-year loan from French club Toulon for the 2020 Major League Rugby season.
“We’re very pleased to officially announce the signing of Bastareaud for the 2020 season, he’s a world class player,” Mr English said.
“Details are being finalized but we are very excited to have him on loan from Toulon.
“He’s going to bring a lot of experience and will be a big presence on and off the field for RUNY.
“This also gives us a great opportunity to further connect with our French fan base here in NYC,” he said.
